Doogee unveiled its brand new rugged smartphone – the Doogee S98 Pro – last month with a design heavily inspired by “aliens”, according to the company.
This rugged new beast packs a night vision camera, thermal imaging sensor, and ultra-wide camera. That said, a few days ago the company finally revealed the launch date for the phone, which is June 6.
Doogee S98 Pro Features and Specifications
At a time when most smartphones are virtually identical with only minor differences such as colors, Doogee’s alien-inspired smartphone has won the European Good Design Award.
But design isn’t all the phone has to offer. The company has made a bold statement claiming that the Doogee S98 Pro has the best camera system on a rugged phone.
The phone is equipped with a professional-grade thermal camera with an InfiRay sensor that offers more than twice the thermal resolution of other standard sensors on the market.
The 25Hz frame rate allows it to detect and diagnose humidity, high temperatures, blockages, and more.
Flanking the large thermal imaging sensor is a 48 MP main camera with the Sony IMX582 sensor and a 20 MP Sony IMX350 night vision camera.
The phone comes with an algorithm called “Dual Spectrum Fusion” which processes and combines the images from the thermal camera and the main camera into a single image.
On the front of the device, Doogee has added a 16 MP Samsung S5K3P9SP sensor which is housed in a small teardrop notch.
The Doogee S98 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Helio G96 which has a maximum clock speed of 2.05 GHz which means the phone should handle most tasks you throw at it including gaming.
This chipset is associated with 8 GB of RAM + 256 GB of storage which can be expanded up to 512 GB via a micro SD card.
And to make sure you don’t have to carry a power bank everywhere you go, the phone comes with a massive 6000mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging via the power bank. power supply included. Wireless charging maxes out at 15W.
As for the display, the S98 Pro sports a 6.3-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD screen with a claimed peak brightness of 500 nits. There’s also a teardrop notch on top and Corning Gorilla Glass for protection against scratches and minor drops.
Several other features and functions are available, such as a customizable button to which different actions can be assigned, NFC support, IP68 and IP69K ratings, support for BeiDou, Galileo, GPS and GLONASS navigation satellites and MIL-STD-810H compliance.
The Doogee S98 Pro also comes with Android 12 pre-installed and the company guarantees 3 years of security updates which is definitely a plus.
