Launch of the Sunday Times GenNext campaign

This year Sunday time The GenNext campaign kicked off last month with the Sunday Times GenNext Youth Marketing online webinar series as a four-part digital conference that will run through August.

This year marks the 18th year of the annual Sunday time GenNext survey, which asks over 7,000 young South Africans about their brand preferences.

Led by a business and marketing strategy consultancy, Yellowwood – hosted within TBWA – it is designed to maximize information covering the entire South African youth market.

A unique dive into youth

“GenNext is a high point in the calendar of marketing, brand and advertising professionals – offering insight into the complex and often fickle preferences of young South African consumers,” says Eben Gewers, head of sales at Arena Holdings, who possesses Sunday time GenNext.

“We have tracked the feelings and preferences of an entire generation over the past 18 years, where we are able to determine how decision-making and brand loyalty have been affected by socio-economic circumstances and other global events like Covid-19 Ideas are a unique dive into what drives young people in SA,” he adds.

An opportunity to position Gautrain

Gautrain is once again a flagship partner of the Sunday time GenNext campaign.

“Young people are Gautrain’s future clientele and the Sunday time GenNext is an opportunity to position the Gautrain brand with young people,” says Barbara Jensen-Vorster, Chief Communications and Marketing Officer of Gautrain Management Agency.

An interactive showcase on September 15 will see 300 young people come together to interact and engage with brands through exhibitions, activations and competitions at the Empire Conference and Events Venue in Parktown, Johannesburg.

TheSunday time The GenNext Awards will be held on September 16 in a hybrid live-streamed format where SA’s coolest brands will be rewarded. This year sees the inclusion of three new categories: coolest brand that cares; The coolest accommodation booking app and the coolest savings and investment platform.

The Sunday time The GenNext supplement will be released on September 18, 2022.
