Realme seems unstoppable. The Chinese giant held its fourth launch event for 2020 (yes, fourth) today in New Delhi to close its new budget-focused Realme 6 series. Realme 6 Pro is offered as a successor to last year’s Realme X. It’s going to lead the charge in the premium budget segment with an all-new Snapdragon 700 series chipset, four cameras, super-fast charging and more.
Realme 6 Pro: Specifications and Features
Starting with the design, you can easily tell that this is a Realme phone of the vertical four camera system with a yellow circular ring on the uppermost sensor. The company has gone from plastic and is offering a glass back panel with the Realme 6 Pro, protected by Gorilla Glass 5. It has this Lightning pattern on the back which looks pretty cool to me.
Up front, Realme 6 Pro sports a modern, dual-camera punch-hole display. It’s a 6.6-inch Full-HD + IPS LCD display, with 90Hz refresh rate and 120Hz touch sampling rate. The screen supports 20: 9 aspect ratio, 2400 x 1080 pixel resolution, 90.6% screen.
compared to the body, 480 nits of maximum brightness and Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
As for the dual camera punch hole on the top left, Realme 6 Pro includes a 16 MP Sony IMX741 primary sensor and a secondary 8 MP ultra-wide sensor with a 105-degree field of view. If you ask me, I like Realme knowing how to better use the dual camera punch hole compared to Xiaomi. Ultra-wide is definitely the way to go and I appreciate it.
The strong point of this device is that it is the first smartphone in the world powered by the new Snapdragon 720G Chipset. It was announced in January 2020 and squarely matches the Snapdragon 712 and Snapdragon 730G. The chipset is mated to up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, expandable up to 256GB using the built-in dedicated microSD card slot. Realme 6 Pro works Realme user interface based on Android 10 out of the box. You can read all about the best features of Realme UI here.
In the camera department, Realme 6 Pro includes a four-camera system controlled by the ISOCELL GW1 64MP (f / 1.8) sensor this is also found on the flagship Realme X50 Pro which launched earlier last month. It is paired with an 8MP (f / 2.3) ultra-wide camera with a 119-degree FOV, a 12MP telephoto (f / 2.5) with 2x optical zoom and 20x hybrid digital zoom, and a 2MP macro lens with a fixed 4cm. focus distance.
As with all camera features, Realme 6 Pro supports Tripod mode, Ultra Nightscape, enhanced Expert mode, UIS dual video stabilization, slow motion video recording up to 1080p @ 120fps, bokeh video and much more.
Realme 6 Pro too is equipped with 4300mAh battery and a 30W VOOC Flash Charge 4.0 (5V / 6A) adapter supplied in the box. The company says you can recharge almost 70% of your battery in 30 minutes, which looks pretty good at this price.
The physical fingerprint sensor remains but now serves as the power button. You also get a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB Type-C port, and a slot for 3 cards. There is also NavIC support, Dual-frequency GPS, Bluetooth 5.1, WiFI 802.11ac, etc.
Pricing and availability
Realme 6 Pro was priced at Rs. 16,999 for the basic 6 GB + 64 GB variant, but you have to shell out Rs. 17 999 for the 6 GB + 128 GB variant and Rs. 18 999 for the 8 GB + 128 GB variant. It will go on sale from 13 March on the Flipkart and Realme online store.
The smartphone will be available in two attractive color options namely Lightning Blue and Lightning Orange. Realme 6 Pro will be face the Poco X2 and the Redmi Note 9 Pro, which is expected to launch next week. It’s rumored to be arriving with the Snapdragon 720G chipset as well, so it’ll be interesting to see how the two stack up.
