Jio phones are one of the most popular phones in India with a large user base. Popular for its affordability and powerful features, some things could change for Jio phone buyers. On the one hand, a new report suggests that the price of the multifunction phone will increase and the new Jio phone will cost Rs. 999.

The price of the Jio phone has gone up
The report comes from 91mobiles claiming that the price of Jio phone in India will increase by Rs. 300 from retail sources, Reliance will resume selling and shipping the first generation Jio phone. Previously these feature phones costing Rs. 699 were out of stock and the demand has increased. To meet growing demand, units are back in stock but will be a little more expensive.
That’s not all, Jio phones would be sold with the Rs. 125 recharge pack – which is going to be mandatory for all new buyers. It would also bring the total cost of a new Jio phone to Rs. 1,124. At present, there is no requirement to get a Jio recharge pack when purchasing a new phone. However, even that could change soon. Reliance Jio is expected to make an official announcement soon, the report suggests.

Increase in the price of the Jio phone: is it justified?
In the age of affordable smartphones, Jio Phone is still quite popular. When the feature phone was originally launched, it was successful and the demand persists. Therefore, one might wonder about the soaring price of the Jio phone.
There are a few factors to consider here that could justify the price increase. The report also shared the Jio phone retail boxes, which also lists the features it contains. One of the big differences is that the new Jio phone contains the Qualcomm chipset instead of the Spreadtrum processor.
The Jio phone features a 2.4 inch screen, VGA camera sensor, Qualcomm processor paired with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage. The phone supports 4G LTE which makes it one of the biggest attractions. It also runs KaiOS which allows users to download a few apps. As the news has not been officially confirmed, we advise you to take the report with a grain of salt.
